If reports in the media are correct, Garde isn't interested in taking over at Toon because he cannot bring his two coaches with him from Lyon days and would have to work with Carver and Stone. What does Ashley not understand about " clean sweep and new start "?

faircomment

1.) 22 Jan 2015 20:53:17
Surely the role of carver and stone would be to execute whatever coaching the head coach instructs them to do? From a business perspective it makes a bit of sense for continuity. Plus Carver would know the players well I guess. Not agreeing with it, as a businessman myself I agree with the practice. As a fan it makes me sick!

2.) 23 Jan 2015 07:27:01
I am going to go mental if we choose McClaren over the likes of Garde, FDB and Laudrup simply because we have to "pay" to change the back room staff.

Only at Newcastle this could be a problem, any other normal club they'd bring in the new manager's own coaches so it is a clean slate as you say FC

3.) 23 Jan 2015 18:49:44
for Pardew we got £3m compo Carver and Stone would expect £2m tyhat makes a proffit of 1m go for it

4.) 24 Jan 2015 09:53:37
i don't see why the club can't keep them. I've always felt we've been lacking when it comes to coaches. If Garde wants to bring a GK coach with him then give Woodman's son a new contract and get rid of the dad.

5.) 24 Jan 2015 13:56:38
You get what you are given and this appointment is for Ashley and only Ashley so he can continue to strip TV money out of the club
Wake Up what we fans want does not count and for sure it will be the cheapest alternative and a coach who will accept Ashley's rule.

6.) 24 Jan 2015 20:40:05
You always know Vida is at the end of his tether when his posts start with "wake up"

Its all getting boring now, we know that Ashley won't invest in the club and he has always stated that the club must be self sufficient.

I still watch the games in the hope that I may see a good performance, but the only joy I've had in 35 years is beating man utd 5-0.

Look on the bright side Vida, JFK isn't in charge which would have been the case 12 months ago.

7.) 25 Jan 2015 12:58:36
Desree he might still get involved as might any other plonker That is the worrying point.

8.) 26 Jan 2015 02:36:04
You are right Vida. Why does everyone keep saying Mike ashley is a smart business man? How can anyone smart hire JFK twice?

13 Jan 2015 12:28:55
Not so sure how true it is but a quite reliable source has told me that only thing sticking the Garde deal is that he wants his 2 coaches alongside him which means Ashley would have to pay up Carver and Stone contracts. Surely he would have plenty of money left from Pardews alleged 3.5m compensation after he had paid these 2 off? Sooner the better i hope.

faircomment

1.) One of those is a GK coach but Woodman hasn't followed Pards yet. I would guess if that happened MA would allow incoming manager to bring a coach or 2 with them but one of the conditions is likely to be that Stone and Carver stay.

2.) Fairey it is not true Carver will be installed until the end of the season even if he loses the next 3 matches

3.) Thanks for ruining my day Vida!

4.) Vera, what makes you think Carver will get it? Do you not think he would have been appointed by now if he was?

5.) I hear Carver will be left in charge until the Summer and if that upsets you tough (my source a journalist)
I'm not happy about it either but if some on here want to dream then dream on No one seems to like the facts.

6.) Think it is a no brainer Carver will stay until the end of the season in charge and Ashley will gamble that he can keep Newcastle up.

We all know he knows the players than anyone and the fact Ashley does not want bring in any new players fits Ashley's mould perfectly.

News we do not want to hear but if it is a fact no good shooting the messenger.

7.) Fairey I can't see any other solution my source really is in the dark as well I think but he hear's things we don't, perhaps he is wrong but I don't think so.

JC (we really have not seen what he can do as he is in the wake of Pardew)
Getting 5 wins should be possible and of course as has already been said allows Ashley not to spend any money and pocket what comes in and blame it all on JC.

Ashley is a businessman who knows very little about football and will never allow wholsale change.

Finally Carver knows how the Ashley system works and therefore allows himself to be used and not have to ask for anything different in the way the club is ran.

8.) Totally agree with what you are saying Vera about Carver BUT didn't Pardew get the Job without even being in the betting? Nothing to say Ashley won't shock/upset us more. i'm hoping that the new interest in Rangers from other parties has shocked him into lowering his ridiculous asking price for us ( rumoured to be £350m ) and find a buyer as quick as possible. After all Rangers seems to be his destination now.

9.) 16 Jan 2015 21:37:56
Vida: as you say, your journo friend is as much in the dark as the rest of us - if he really knew anything his paper would splash the exclusive. Charnley, Carr and Ashley don't tell anybody what they're thinking, but if Carver's their choice it would be done and dusted by now. No brainer really.

10.) Well Vic now that your glass in half empty like the rest of us you as normal seem have the edge so let's just wait and see. not long to wait.

11.) 18 Jan 2015 15:07:19
No, Vida, my glass is totally empty. With carver in charge a relegation fight is certain. We don't have the points to escape like last year and the players have no motivation to battle. I don't blame Carver for this; the policy of not going for the cups does it. The only hope is a new boss who can shake things up - who? I've no idea.

Perez signed, looks like Colback signed and rumours that Gomis of Lyon very very close to signing. 3 players and total transfer fees of £1.5m. Does that mean we can expect a couple of big signings? £15m signings? OR are we just looking at the out of contract market? Also, was that statement claiming we are NOT interested in bring a decent centre back in true? Williamson, Taylor and Collocini have got to be the worst group of ctre backs in the premier league at this moment. Why look at attacking players when Mr Pardew is a negative tactics manager, surely he should be looking at strengthening our back four?

faircomment

1.) There's pictures going around FB of Gomis getting out of a helicopter with ashley, but could be photo shopped lol

I think Siem De Jong could be a genuine target as he admitted we've contacted his agent, he's a very good false 9 who would go well in a strike partnership with a poacher/target man.

TBH faircomment, I wouldn't be surprised if we actually signed Darren Bent and Curtis Davies. As I said on the banter page I think Pardew will be more active over transfer targets, and we will be seeing more "good ol' fashioned" players or experience.

Ashley has the money to splash 50 or 60mil on transfers but he just won't because he's so tight fisted.

2.) Agree with you faircomment willo collo and taylor not first choice centre halfs. Collo was but he gets turned too easily and is not so good in the air. Taylor just hasn't improver over the years and willo had a half decent season but he is not good enough maybe Caulker and Davies with mbwia might be better

3.) Caulker looks like he's going to arsenal

4.) Its the worse photo shop ever Jtoon meant as a joke as Gomis is in his full french strip. Saying that he is apparently very gain to sign.

Five weeks or so to the season starting and still ZERO signings and only rumours. Did the Club not state at the end of last season that they wanted deals done quickly so they could bed in? Everyone around us at lower end, Norwich, Villa, Muckems etc, bringing players in. Another long season ahead if the clowns running the club are putting all the eggs in one basket and, as it happened before, we lose out because we offer half of valuation of player. I hope they shock me and announce 3 or4 top signings but I won't hold my breath.

faircomment

1.) I'd be shocked if we announced one good signing.

2.) Can't see any decent signings being made - the fact no bids being made says it all
At best a 1 or 2 fringe players to replace 4 or 5 leaving as Ashly and his cronies believe what we did in January is more than enough and that we can rely on youth
We will be a much weaker team than last year

3.) WHO is going to join us with all the trouble in the board room and who is really in charge please can you tell me what we are going to do this year because I am fearing the worst.

Well I think Villa and Palace showed us how to easily beat Sunderland. Pace and keep them on back foot. Carver used neither against them with a pathetic starting 11 line up. If only Ashley would sell up and new owners would get rid of Carver/Stone/Woodman/Beardsley/Colo/Williamson/Gouf/Ameobi/Staylor/Rtaylor/Jonas/Elliott/Alnwick/Riviere/Cabella. NONE good enough for premier league. Then get rid of Charnley and Ashleys biggest poodle Bob Moncur. ALL of this depends of course on Ashley selling up. Otherwise nothing will change and relegation is just waiting and before we know it, a tumble through the leagues. My heart bleeds to see what is happening to one of Englands biggest clubs after 46yrs of supporting them and all down to a little fat slug.

faircomment

1.) 13 Apr 2015 11:54:08
Can't believe you have slagged off Beardsley or Bob Moncur, you should be ashamed of yourself.

2.) 15 Apr 2015 17:34:43
Because Beardsley AND Moncur know the club inside out and can see what the fat man is doing to it YET still show their support for him by praising him. AND no i'm not ashamed of slagging them off.

23 Mar 2015 16:18:25
Well judging by Carvers recent comments about pinpointing players for next season, helping with pre-season organisation etc, he has obviously been told the job is his. I remember when our players wanted Richard Dinnis to step up from coaching to run the team and their wish was granted. Following season we lost our first 10 games before he was sacked but we ended up relegated. Will Fat Man risk getting his grubby fingers on the 2016/17 mega millions on offer in premier league by appointing him? that's me, after 46yrs, finished if he gets it, I couldn't stand the stress of week in week out pathetic displays and excuses. My only hope is Ashley sells up and new owners clear out the whole 1st team coaching staff out. Looks like I will follow a lot of my mates to Gateshead FC next season.

faircomment

1.) 24 Mar 2015 13:45:46
I don't take a lot of notice of Carver and his comments but if he does take over I won't be at any matches unless he proves me wrong and we are in the top 8 from the start, i'm certainly not going to watch games like we`ve played this season

2.) 24 Mar 2015 21:02:17
I think a lot of fans will cut loose in the summer. I can't believe we get bigger crowds than when we had keegans entertainers.

30 Jan 2015 15:59:38
John Carver says he is happy that he would have no input on purchase of players because Mike told him to be happy. His job is on the training ground preparing the players for matches, exactley like he has been doing for the last 4 years to great success. Carver or Cardew, no matter what his surname is, is just a Pardew puppet and now he wants to share Mikes bed.

faircomment

1.) Faircomment I'm not sure what your point is. Carver wants the job, we all know that no matter who gets it, they won't get a say in transfers. He's hardly going to slag fat Mike off and then get the job. If tahts what we think we need the Tim Sherwood did a great job at spurs last season.

21 Jan 2015 18:07:47
Charnley is just another mouth piece for Ashley and has obviously just read the statement prepared for him. Has he told us anything we didn't already know? If these muppets leave the chuckle brothers Carver and Stone in charge until the summer then we will be in a relegation battle right to the wire. No new Ctr Half means our fragile defence will be battered week after week and with our lightweight forward line shooting blanks, i fear the worst. BUT until someone takes the club off Ashley then we have to listen to the drivel running out of Charleys mouth.

faircomment

1.) Sad thing is it will as far as Ashley is concerned. Football does not come into it

02 Jan 2015 11:02:31
When a caretaker manager takes over a club he usually has his own ideas. Alnwick is absolute carp, i know we are struggling for keepers but the young lad Woodman can be no worse than him. Why did he take Riviere off? Movement excellent, holds ball up and let's face it Armstrong is a million miles away from a premier league player. When Taylor was injured, sensible decision was Dummett ctr back and Hiadara at left back. THEN what was he thinking at 2-2? Midfielder off left back on? I may be on my own here BUT if John Cardew gets the nod for the job then we will be in a relegation battle, 3rd rate coaches DO NOT make good managers.

I think Man U was too big too soon for Moyes and I also think he would be welcomed with open arms at Newcastle.

It has been confirmed by Birmingham City staff. MAYBE now the whole country, who think we are hard on them, will see what a bunch of Clowns we have ruining our proud club.

Lets hope there is some mileage in this rumour. When you look at it maybe it makes a little sense. I mean if you were selling your house, would you fit new carpets before selling?

Probably have to work with Kids like as 80% of our squad would jump ship AND no leaders like Nolan, Barton, Carroll to fight our way back. Championship football may last a LOT longer than our last visit so Fat Man would lose millions in TV money. Only plus point if we get relegated under the Chuckle brothers Carver and Stone

Swansea interested in Grimes but no deal done yet. They refused the price Exeter asked them for. Auria is Ivory coast left back, solid and good going forward

To be honest i can't see anything but defeats while Alnwick is in goal. His positional sense, decision making are absolute dreadful. He is exactly what he is, a 3rd choice keeper that was to be released in the summer. We can only hope he gets injured in training so we can bring an emergency loan keeper in before we play Spurs and the Muckems.

Do you not think that the injuries we constantly get saddled with is down to our League 1 standard coaching methods dished out by our 3 amigos Carver/Stone/Woodman? The sooner this club is rid of them plus Pardew and Ashley the better. On the injury note, look at De Jongs injury history and also that Argie strikers. Maybe had our pants took down there.
