I am neither a lover or hater of Ashley, I do try to understand the situation. First I believe that he came to the club with good intentions. he went out of his way to understand the fans, he backed allardyce with funds and acted swiftly when it was clear that allardyce was not up to the job.
He then did what he thought everyone wanted, brought back KK. to some extent he backed him. But this was doomed for failure from the off and it ended in tears understandably so.
Ashley has his and his families lives threatened (which as a family man myself I find unforgiveable).
He tries to sell then holds out the olive branch to us by hiring shearer who clearly is way out of his depth and gets us relegated.
Ashley decides he can't afford to do it shearers way and stumps up his own money to make sure the club gets straight back into the premier league.
whatever Ashleys motives are, one thing he can't be accused of is abandoning the club. I can't help but think that if fans had threatened my family I would have let the club rot into oblivion.
As I say lads, I'm not a supporter of the regime, just putting things into context.

I am looking forward to a great season and who knows, europe or a relegation battle, life at least is always exciting as a toon fan!

Geez would you abandon a Golden Goose Get real Man. Ashley is a moron
spending only what is necessary
Not as bad as Blackpool owners BUT not far OFF and taking of off I wish he would F Off.

Beautifully argued post, desree.

Similarly I am not for the regime at all (yet more self-created bad PR coming out about denying coaches comp tickets today!) but how come every time anyone puts a reasoned post up about MA and co, he is told to 'get real' and words like 'joker' and 'moron' are bandied about? Ashley might be those things - god knows he has done some stupid alienating things - but he has done some good for this club too.

Some people can't wait for the team to fail so we can lay it at his door - 'we all told him we needed a CB and ST. He never even put his hand in his pocket, not really. Fat useless cockney b*st*rd!'

And if you loathe the administration, let's have a proper talk about it. I have problems with MA but how can you have a reasonable discussion about it when a) people shout you down and b) you don't/won't admit there have been some small positives under MA?!

MarcHottigerForever When you buy a club as Ashley did behind the backs and under the table. You make a decision to as he did to make money. There was no open dialogue and it has just got steadily worse with plugs in holes with YES men and women

Only Mort had any idea and he got out quick.

What has Ashley done apart from make this club a run of the mill

Any other buyer could have done what he did but would have known the personic Loan to the bank existed and done something about it.

So what has he done apart from milked as most fans know 77m in the last season.

Vida we were 13th when he bought the club. Ashley got robbed blind by the Halls and FfS, he spent 6 months listening to fans and sitting in the stands and buying them beers.

Then when Keegan chucks his toys out the pram because he realised he was not going to be given carte blanche on signings the fans go all pitchfork on him.

I was flabbergasted we signed Dennis Wise, JFK and KK. shocked we sacked hughton and shocked we signed pardew. The stadium name was a stupid idea.

Here is a question, I wonder what Ashley would do if the fans chanted his name in a positive manner and gave him some recognition?

Fat chance it would happen but it may just get him interested. and chris mort wasn't in the role permanently, he was seconded from his lawyers. A common practice after a take over. Although granted he was a very good communicator.

Ashley was not robbed he in his nirmal way did not look and yhat for a suppossed clever man B. CKS

He was welcomed with open arms by many and his name chanted
It wasnot until he opened the envelop
he saw what a terrible mistake he had made AND the fans have been held responsible ever since
Ever been embarrassed? He was
Welcome to NUFC 2014

How have the fans been held responsible?

There a clubs out there who are crying out for a owner like ours, to generate stability and run the club the way a club should be run. At the end of the day its a business. Are you really telling me that the way Man City, Chelsea and even QPR were on their last stint in the PL is how you want the club run?

The only club to get it 100% right is probably Arsenal. Everton, Tottenham, WBA all probably come close too.

Basically we have a stable club, who realistically can challenge for a good league position, we are getting better every season under Ashely & Pards as a team and I want that stability to continue.
