This is probably our best match day squad:

Krul
Janmaat Willo MYM Santon
Sissoko Tiote Colback
De Jong Riviere Cabella

Subs:
Elliott
Collo
Haidara
Anita
Gouffran
Ben Arfa
Ferreyra or Perez

danieljp

1.) 01 Sep 2014 11:44:17
This would be mine:
Krul
Janmaat-Willo-M'biwa-Haidara
Tiote-Colback
Cabella-De Jong-Aarons
Rivière

SUBS:
Elliot
Collo
Santon
Anita
Ben Arfa
Ferreyra
Perez

2.) Welcome back matt!

I'd personally play with a fluid 4-3-3 with no actual striker, everyone in the front 3 just roaming around, pulling defenders out of position. We have no out and out prolific goal scorer so why play a formation with 1?

Krul
Janmaat-Willo-M'Biwa-Haidara
De Jong-Tiote-Colback
Aarons-Ben Arfa-Cabella

3.) 01 Sep 2014 15:09:47
That front 3 looks exciting even though it doesn't have a striker, the other thing is to put Ayoze up top with Rivière and where has Armstrong gone?

4.) Ill go with you ToonMatt. glad to see you neither Sissoko and Goufron who are awful at the moment

5.) Jtoon I don't think we have been playing with a striker for months now!

I just wish we would get rid of pardew, routledge looked on fire for swansea, much better than obertan.

That front 3 would have to play a lot more advanced and we would ned runners into the box for aarons to whip the ball into.

a kevin nolan type would be great in that line up.

I like Pardew, I like his passion and I don't think his tactics are that bad. We can see defence is our problem just now and the rest of the team play like they have no confidence in it! If we could get a CB with some pace in there i'm sure the attacking players would have much more confidence to play with freedom! Although that may chnage when Tiote comes back as he does protect that back 4 quite a lot and in todays game no top team doesn't have a top DM to protect their defense!

danieljp

1.) You make some valid points hopefully we get Alderweireld and start him with M'Biwa and tiote will be a boost. But tactics are way too rigid for the likes of Cabella and SDJ. Enough of this 4-2-3-1 crap we need to go with a fluid 4-3-3. With a false 9 striker in HBA

2.) We need a coach who can coach the defence (we constantly leave someone unmarked in the box) we don't know how to defend set pieces we back off attackers instead of pressing them, get rid of Cater and Sone and get in a couple of good coaches

3.) Des
thats just not going to happen until we get a new manager with his own back room staff, pardew isn't going to get someone who's going to do tactics and defence for him.

4.) The one thing that stands out about our defence is the lack of personnel who are willing to put their body on the line to block shots.
What sticks out even more is that Colo, who should be leading by example, turns his back on the shooter when a shot does come in. So the attempted block in my opinion is quite pathetic.
Even though his form is better than it was in pre-season, I feel he's our weak link in defence.
If we do get Alderweireld in, I hope it's the first steps in replacing Colo.

5.) Agreed geordie, but I don't know why we're trying to get rid of MYM he's our best CB! Him and Alderweireld in defence would be good.

6.) I'd like to see MYM given a run in his best position. He's had some good games as well as bad. But you don't captain a unfancied French team to the league title by being rubbish.
I think they are trying to get rid of either 3 or 4th choice central defenders - ST & MYM. No one wants ST, MYM is wanted in France where he still has a good rep but Financing the move is a prob for most clubs there.

7.) 31 Aug 2014 19:51:29
Personally I think 352 would be a better system as it gives us a chance to play 2 up top. If we are going to stick with this 4231 then Aarons needs to be in the team, Goffy doesn't offer anything playing on the left, he should be tried upfront until the new forwards get used to the prem

8.) Lets be cautious with Aarons, the lad's fantastic. I think he's put more crosses in the box the Jonas and Gouffran combined in their NUFC careers. Don't want to burn the lad out. Sub appearances with the odd start would be great for the lad. If someone bumps into him tell him to do the opposite of whatever Pardew tells him.

9.) 31 Aug 2014 21:07:27
If he is good enough, he is old enough. He should play.

10.) What is the point of having consistency if it means we are consistently bad? We have some of the best players outside thr top 4.

What strikes me is that if Ashley is as great a business man as is claimed how come he doesn't invest in a top class coach who will improve the value of his assets?

Come on Ashley, go all out for a decent coach

11.) I know we are stuck with Carter and Stone because we are stuck with Pardew. If Pardew had any idea he would have brought Arrons on at HT or at least 10 minuets earlier than he did our team was crying out to be changed. Just like we have been crying out for a CD for at least a year

12.) EEvery one of palaces goals could easily have been prevented had any one in a black and white shirt had been closer than 5 metres away.

The lack of desire and urgency to close down the ball in our own box is a clear sign that we lack leadership on and off the pitch. I think Pardew has already lost the dressing room on this evidence. Relegation fight looming if Ashley doesn't act now.

13.) Desree we have cosistancy it is just bad that's all

14.) Totally agree desree, when the ball bounced up for puncheon, the amount of ball watchers there was shocking

Has anyone actually heard any rumours on Micah Richards recently? Iv not seen or heard a solid umour ever on this. I for one think it could be a great signing if we do pull it off!

danieljp

1.) He would be a top signing for us. Hope it comes off.

2.) Agreed fnuklnuk

Its a shame. We are 2 players - CB and ST from really challenging top 6 instead of just top 8. Our starting 11 is pretty strong and we do have good options but nothing that could change a game!

Krul
Janmaat Willo Collo Santon
Sissoko Tiote
De Jong Cabella Gouffran
Riviere

We even have a second 11 of

Elliott
MBiwa Saylor Good/Streete Haidara
HBA Colback Anita Obertan
Ferrya Cisse

Tahts without mentioning Perez, Dummett, Sammy, Vuckic Bigirimana, and returning Raylor!

even with a CB and striker I struggle to see us finishing ahead of arsenal, spurs, man city, man utd, chelsea and liverpool. better squads and better managers. If we can play attractive football and finish top 8 I'd be over the moon.

2.) Think you are right

Yeah we've not won yet, but I think its a bit early to panic. Were just taking a little while to get settle down. And some of the clubs who will ultimately struggle have had a good start. No need to panic just yet. See how the first game back after break goes.

We do need one player in though - either a defender to stop goals goiing in or a striker to balance out the goals we will let in!

Think this is a great move. Stops them writing rubbish. Also means that the write ups we do get will be worth it! Business wise and as a fan I like this idea.

Ashley gets such a hard time. His approach from a business perspective can not be argued - look at how stable the club is, and how we have a platform to build on for the future. I do feel for him, imagine how hard it must be to be a fan and be objective about it. I think people forget all the other costs in running the club - the 60m covers all that, and our debt. The fact we have been able to buy players without touching our tandard income is fantastic, and Ashley as shown that when it is needed he will spend money.

Santon, Anita and Haidara have probably been the only players to improve under pardew! Bigi just needs more gametime and his time will come if tiote goes I think. MYM didn't go backwards, pardew just didn't give him a real chance and chose to stick with Collo, Abeid and Amalfitano where always a risky buy and could have gone one way or another, Obertan hasn't gone forward or backwarsd he has always been pretty poor and a impact player for last 15 mins though actually think he has improved a little bit. Of those player you mention Sissoke is only one who has gone backwards, If we are going to criticise him then do it for the right reasons.

Iv only ever read about Ferrerya having a slight injury?! Sometimes I think people get hung up on the most pointless things! I wish people would just get behind which ever 11 are on the pitch who are all wearing the shirt and badge and stop going after the manager/owners. can't you see that its having a negative effect on the club as a whole which turns into poor performances.

Over the last 8 months Williamson has been our most consistent player. Pleased for the lad getting a goal toady and wish it was the winner. i'm sorry to say it but Collo is our weak link in defence. We should have Willo and MYM in CB starting to develop a good partnership between them. We then need a defender like Richards as a back up to them along with STaylor

How have the fans been held responsible?

There a clubs out there who are crying out for a owner like ours, to generate stability and run the club the way a club should be run. At the end of the day its a business. Are you really telling me that the way Man City, Chelsea and even QPR were on their last stint in the PL is how you want the club run?

The only club to get it 100% right is probably Arsenal. Everton, Tottenham, WBA all probably come close too.

Basically we have a stable club, who realistically can challenge for a good league position, we are getting better every season under Ashely & Pards as a team and I want that stability to continue.

Noone can deny that Willo was our best defender last season and is really the only one who has been consistent the last 2 seasons. He is the only one who talks and actually keeps a line and uses his head. i'm by no way saying he amazing but I think we need a new CB to play alongside him, and actually think Collo is close to loosing his place if a first class CB is brought in.
