If ed 002 about , what is your take on the group headed by Amanda Staveley trying to buy into Newcastle. Is it dead in the water

{Ed002's Note - Amanda Staveley's PCP Capital Group is still trying to push ahead with the purchase of Newcastle with the backing of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the chairman of which is Mohammed bin Salman who is heir apparent to the King of Saudi Arabia. This has put the Premier League and the Government in a difficult position regarding the "fit and proper persons" test given that he has been involved with significant civil rights concerns, repression of women's rights, war mongering, diplomatic issues with numerous countries, mass executions and specifically the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

However, in terms of funding they need to comply with Premier League rules and with FFP, and when the qualify for Europe, UEFA FFP. As such, they can make an initial investment as new owners, but they cannot simply poor money in to transfers.}

So much for the human rights concerns by the sounds of things.
It’s looking like the takeover may well go ahead, have you heard anything Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I am told that most of the concerns have been addressed and it should go through soon.}

To ed 001 if possible , hope yr well .
Can you offer an explination of how ffp works to newcastle fans . ....

{Ed002's Note - Listing years worth of transfers is a waste of time. You don't understand FFP and would do best to ignore the finances completely.}

This is a post for ed 001 if possible , I like seeing yr views on things and can often but not always agree.
I think Eddie howe couldn't believe his luck when he got the the newcastle gig under the Saudis and I'm aware you weren't his greatest fan either.
What are yr views on him now , I'm totally impressed how he's turned journeymen into real top 4 contenders , I'm pretty sure the idea was naximin Wilson isak in attack and they rarely feature , bruno guimares and botman have been pretty incredible signings , botman is yet to lose a game , interested in yr views

{Ed001's Note - he has certainly been a lot better than expected, but that has in large part been down to recruitment which he has no say in. To be fair to Howe, he admitted at Bournemouth that he was terrible at the recruitment side of things and brought someone in to deal with it for him. So I would not see that as a minus for Howe that he is not involved, more a plus because he understands what he is not good at and is willing to accept help. That is a big positive point for him.

I think that he is actually better suited to a job like this than he was to a smaller job, as such. Now he is able to find the best people for the role needed and delegate to them. Howe's major weakness was his inability to organise a defence, now he has got staff to do that for him. I think a big part of the success is that he knew he was lucky to get the job, he was by no means first choice and so he was more willing to accept help from wherever he could get it. A more successful choice coming in probably wouldn't have suited the position Newcastle were in.

The only issue I can see is the possibility of success going to his head and Howe forgetting what got him here. I don't think it is going to happen, he seems a sensible lad with his feet on the ground, but you can never be sure how success can affect a modest person. Especially when it is unexpected. But if he does stay grounded, which I do believe he will, then he could genuinely turn out to be a revelation in the role for the long term. So long as he has the right staff around him, which the Saudi money should provide, there is no limit to how far this club could go. Right now he doesn't have that Pep capacity to outthink himself and throw away a game by trying to be clever. With the backing the club is giving him and that grounded attitude, there is no reason why he couldn't be the one to give Newcastle the Premier League title - in time.}
