Ashley is doing the right thing.

A) Platini is already going back on his word, which was teams not complying will be banned from Europe.

B) Look at the U turn they have done in accordance to Barcelona, and their clear breaking of numerous rules

Uefa will never follow up these threats with a real sanction, what does a fine mean to city and psg, just pay that as easy as they spent £1billion. I would take a wage cap and a fine to be playing in the champions league, typical Uefa and there weak stance.

{Ed002's Note - From 2011/2012 all clubs need to provide a second set of accounts specifically for the purpose of Financial Fair Play. These are based on the ordinary accounts but adapted for the provisions for FFP - so certain things can be deducted as allowable costs (infrastructure changes, spending on youth sides, wages of players signed prior to 2010 etc.). These accounts also include the income streams (TV and prize money, match day revenue, commercial revenue).

The FFP accounts are then assessed for compliance with the provisions of the FFP rules. A number of sides are known to be in breach of the rules on a consistent basis (i.e. for each of the three years of data gathering - 2011/12 to 2013/14) and in England it is Manchester City and Liverpool who are in breach. As a note, the rules do not work simply on turnover and spending on transfers, but there are limits on increases in the wage bill as well.

The investigation at this time does not include clubs who have not been playing in Europe - which lets Liverpool off the hook but they will be warned and will be expected to come in line in the future. Of the other clubs, a number are well wide of the rules and a line will need to be drawn somewhere. But this is where it gets difficult.

Both Manchester City and PSG claim very significant income from sponsorship, and in both cases that sponsorship is directly linked to the owners of the club. The same is true for Zenit St Pete. UEFA want to cap the allowable sponsorship income but it has been near impossible for everyone to agree a figure.

There was a meeting in Monaco at the end of March that discussed this again without reaching agreement. So, regardless of where lines are drawn, it is clear that a number of clubs are going to be considered to be in breach to some level or other.

That leaves the big issue that faces UEFA - sanctions.

A number of clubs will need to somehow be penalised by UEFA - think of it as a league table with the worst offenders at the bottom. At the top of that league, clubs will likely be given a strong warning in writing and be liable to checks over the coming years. Toward the lower end of that table UEFA will look to employ financial penalties (fines). At the foot the two big threats are transfer bans and expulsion from completion. And this is where it gets difficult.

Previously one club (Anzhi) said it will ignore the regulations and would simply not play in Europe. More recently another club has said it will take UEFA to court if any sanctions are imposed upon it - and if this happened and UEFA lost it would likely be the end of FFP. They are also aware of the big threat of a breakaway pan-European league and know that in about 10 years time that will happen regardless. They don't want to hasten it.

This leaves them rather toothless and probably looking to negotiate sanctions - so this coming season perhaps fines and warnings are the most likely outcome whilst the rules are clarified. This would probably suit everyone.}

Pardew would never win that case, firstly he has failed to meet targets 2 year in a row, secondly he has been in numerous altercations with the FA, especially recently. There is a huge case against him.

Yeah I agree that we have been incredibly successful and shrewd in our transfer dealings in the last 5 years and we have made £45mil profit, but as I said before if you look at the year by year accounts of newcastle, it cannot possibly be called a cash cow. It is however one of the largest platforms for Ashley to advertise his brands on, and pay no money for.

That is my biggest problem, while other big teams are exploiting the loop holes in eufa ffp with these huge sponsorship deals, Ashley seems happy to comply with them. As if he is a responsible, law abiding business man, usually why is he being with us. Why he doesn't invest heavily like 50million sponsorship for newcastle from a company of his, and get around it like everyone else.

This season and financial year has obviously not been taken into account when talking about Newcastles finances and accounts, as it is far from finished. In our last financial year we made a 9mil profit, I mean the wage budget is over £60million. Yes the income will increase this year significantly, but at at the moment we are still not far breaking even. Ashley is far from raking in the money at newcastle, a few million here and there means very little to him, and is certainly not a cash cow, especially how he's been here a long time now, not really a short term period of gains.

Newcastle United is far from a cash cow, 9 million profit annually is certainly not a cash show especially with the amount of investment. He has done incredibly well recently and has doubled his net worth and no doubt that is down to Newcastle United on so many levels.

There is no reason why pardew will keep his job if he carries on doing as pathetic as he is at the moment. Maybe Ashley obviously needs to invest in the squad that is plainly clear, and maybe bringing in a new manager will create that spark, because pardew certainly hasn't made him invest has he.

They demanded 12 million for wanyama, and will demand a similar price for van dijk someone who I think we should be snapping up straight away, but I doubt will happen for many reasons.
Hooper was nearing the end of his contract, and is very easily replaced in the spl especially when there is no competition.
He obviously won't cost 10mil that's just not believable, Lloris went for under 10 mil last year to spurs, 10 mil would make Forster the 5th most expensive keeper of all time. get real. But I wouldn't be surprised if they got around 6-7, something I wouldn't be willing to pay anyway. He's dodgy when commanding his box, and isn't good at catching crosses, yeah he's a good shot stopper, which looks good in the cl because he has so many to make eg barcelona, I think he still has a huge improvement to make if he wants to be one of the best keepers in the prem, something we have always had.
