I recently spent an evening in the pub with a friend who happens to be a mackem. On tv was the semi final 2nd leg v man u. I expected man u to win, so was suprised at the result. The strange thing was that the only heated words were exchanged with another newcastle fan.
I gave the opinion that MA has managed to get nufc on a financial even keel just in time for the financial fairplay. we have no interest to pay on any debt. We make significant money on the transfer policy and the club is what it is. a well run business. Recent investment has given us 3 maybe 4 of the clubs best players, so money is being spent on progressing.
However, i'm told MA doesn't show enough ambition and we should be aiming for silverware every year, and that 'most newcastle fans' demand more investment, more silverware and more expensive players.
me personally, I enjoy the players we have. They play their hearts out, once you start introducing mega bucks, you get mega egos and the heart of the club becomes about shirt sales and marketing rights. Sure i'd love to see us win the league, but when there are 4 perhaps 5 of the best teams in europe also playing in our league it becomes highly unlikely.
and cabaye - best of luck to him, he earned the right to play at one of the worlds top teams, he gave 1000% everytimehe pulled on a black and white shirt.

1.) We're not asking for 100s of millions to be spent, all we want is ambition to be shown by the board. We're not going to become successful by selling our best player once every two seasons, to be a top club, you have to ADD not REPLACE.

To change the stadiums name, to ban the local press, to hire joe kinnear (a hated person on tyneside) are just a few things to show that he really does not care about us.

2.) Well as long as you are happy that's fine, supporting the balance sheets is very commendable, ME? I want to support a football team that is improving and aiming to play at the highest level and challenge for honours. Everyone to their own I suppose.

3.) I guess its what "fans" see as ambition. Imo Newcastle have to be realistic, we won't win the league or challenge for the top 4 unless some mega rich person buys the club. 5, 6, 7 position is about achievable and realistic. As for winning something, league or FA cup is achievable and realistic. Players will always come and go, I remember Newcastle selling, Beardsley, Waddle, Gazza and Cole. There will always be others who come in. The best thing Newcastle could do is spend money on coaching and scouting youth, developing a plan for steady progress. Loosing Cabaye is not the end of the world, he wanted to go and we got a good deal.

4.) Everton have not spent " mega bucks " as you put it and they are in the mix nearly every season recently. That is down to them keeping their best players and replacing a sold player like for like.

5.) Everton do sell there big stars. Lescott was sold to Man City for a lot of money Everton signed Distan - the only likeness is that they are left footed. Rodwell was sold to Man City for a lot of money. Everton signed Gibson from Man U - the only likeness is they both struggle with injuries. Everton still haven't replaced Fellani, who was sold to Man U for a lot of money. The difference between Everton and Newcastle is not necessary about transfer activity but rather Manager, coaches, youth academy being much more productive than ours

We aren't going to be the only team clearing the cupboards in the summer. I just hope we don't get too many players that aren't good enough for other teams in the prem (man u). It doesn't help to bicker between ourselves, especially where mackems and other clubs'fans will be laughing at you for it.

As long as the relationship between him and the manager is --- I want this player, go get him. and he goes and does what's best for the team, rather than what may be worth a few quid in a few years.
