Just read Grenier has been put up for sale, we need to go all out and get him, since he is an exact replacement to cabaye. I know Cabella is named as a replacement but I find grenier to fit in cabaye's role.
Don't know about the benteke rumour, but love to see him and Grenier in black and white too although both of them are recovering from injuries.

iToon

1.) Totally agree, we wanted him in Jan so why not know? He is a different player to SDJ and Cabella and would give that creativity from a central midfield area that we currently do not have. Sissoko, Tiote, Colback, Anita all have posisitives to their game but none are a replacement for Cabaye.
If we could get him, PEA or Benteke and a good centre half like Richards I'd be happy, although being greedy you could chuck Rodwell in too.

2.) He is a perfect for cabaye, but I think a top class striker and an out an out winger should be our priorities. Then worry about Grenier, but I heard he's waiting for arsenal

3.) Lads, The biggest challenge I see now is the payroll. I can't see anymore signings unless we get rid of some players. Anyway big respect to JfK, whilst we all thought he was a clown he was secretly laying the groundwork for this summer! I hope Ashley has finally learned not to employ his mates.

4.) JFK could not lay a bathmat
respect the people who are at last really trying

If Grenier is available we must try and get him. We would have an amazing midfield if we do.
Grenier and Aubameyang and I defo think we will be challenging for Europe.
Come on Pardew don't let us down.

We were successful before because we had pace on the wings on our counter attack but since obertan and aarons were injured only ameobi is left with as wide player with pace, Gouffran has failed in that role and Cabella has been ineffective at times.
The good thing is Perez seems to be getting the hang of it, i see him as a future aguero or suarez for us, still in his development stage.
We need to give Haidara a chance and bring Dummett into the center back position along with Colo.
Bring in two new wingers with pace, Andre Ayew from Marseille and Mohammad Salah from Chelsea are my options.
In January we need a LB cover or a new CB, two new wingers and a new striker.
To get a good player we need to pay pretty penny which i don't think Ashley would do, so i am trusting Graham Carr to find us new gems.
If Sissoko leaves in January, we are doomed because two seasons running we will be selling our engine player and try to coast to the finish line.

iToon

1.) Ameobi has not got pace he trots at his fastest

2.) Ameobi is very lucky, 2-3 times a match he seems to get the ball stuck under his feet and gets the rub of the green when trying to dig it out (accidentally wrong footing a defender) so he bursts clear and everyone thinks he's got skill.

3.) I thought Shola had left us for the greek second division?

Cabaye is the missing link in our team But if cabaye returns then Abied has to go back to the bench.
In a counter attacking system right now Sissoko is doing all the running with the ball from defense to attack along with the wingers and the striker, if a player like cabaye's passing range comes in all he has to do is find Sissoko at the other end which will be an even quicker counter attack.
Cabaye was doing that when we were playing this formation before feeding Ben Arfa and Ba with Cisse as striker.
Having said that I think the club has to move on and that's why as I was saying at the start of last transfer window that we have to go in for Clement Grenier a like for like replacement for Cabaye but younger.
Yes, he's injured at the moment.
But our team is confident at the moment which is doing wonders but we need a new spine to it, a striker, a CM and now Abied is there as new DM and a new CB.

iToon

1.) JT give it a few weeks man let's see what happens in the next 4 matches
At the moment the way the formation is Cabaye would not get in the team
Have a little faith
In January we may need 3 players ir. 5 after Tiote and looks like Santon are sold and that will be just to reach and stay mid table

2.) I agree mate. I just think we need to get a bit more premier league experience in the squad.
Players like Cabaye are rare, of all the great players we've had not many compare. I think SDJ can play a similar role but more advanced like cabaye did last season. So we might already have the solution?

CB we should bring back MYM and we will have Lascelles next season. He doesn't seem to be getting game time at forest, maybe they will let him leave early?

As for a striker, we will have to take a gamble and hope ee get a Pelle or Sakho than a brown ideye or van wolfswinkel.

It is so hit and miss with strikers, it may just make sense to try what we have this season and review in the new year for next season

3.) Bony was the man we should have had

4.) All talk of players to come in needs forgetting about until we see just how good/bad the team we have now performs
When you think we have our 2 players at Forest Biggy Good Streete Ferguson Vuckic Armstrong and a few more not even near the squad a shake up is needed

No matter what, a quality striker and CB are needed and a playmaker of quality would be the icing on the cake

But we need recognise that strength in the team us very much required and Colback & Abied should be respected

Ashley's aim is 10th so no good getting carried away

That's 4 on the trot and 3 in Premier League, we've hit bit of a form that we need to utilize this month because in December games come thick and fast.
We play against Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and we've got the derby.
We need to score maximum points this month.
Anyway, hats off to the entire team especially for Abied for his performance in his debut.

As always 4-3-3 is clicking for us.
Yes Aarons got the goal, he's a talent but what a game by Abied, played his heart out and Raylor too.
For me our 3 Man defensive midfield won us the game.
Well done to the whole team.

A 4-4-2 formation with Sammy Ameobi switching positions in the flanks to make a counter-attacking 4-3-3, will this formation work in the long haul ??
With players we've got we can switch between a 4-4-2, 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 within the game.
A bit more quality defence, a midfield engine player and a proper striker, essentially we need a new rock solid spine to the team.

Its going to get even trickier for Pardew with Santon returning to fitness. Surely Dummett wouldn't be replaced.
Only place Pardew could play Santon is a cover to Janmaat or as an RM, which is Santon's natural position from where he scored against Wigan.
Where's Siem De Jong going to fit in ?
Who would be dropped ?
Certainly, its a conundrum but a good one to be in.

Hey niktoon, I think you completely forgot about Cabella, I know he still needs to find his feet but he had an assist last time at Spurs.
My team :
Krul
Janmaat Saylor Colo Dummett
Anita
Sissoko Colback
Obertan Aarons
Riviere
Subs: Sammy for Aarons
Cabella for Obertan
Perez for Riviere

We need to rotate the squad.
I'd say give Raylor, Williamson, Haidara, Abeid, Vuckic, Armstrong and Aarons gametime against City midweek.

I think Pardew would go with the tried and tested, same team as in Man Utd, with an extra man in the middle (Anita), and later on bring Ben Arfa, or could go with shola and long balls to bully the arsenal defense. For me, i'd go 4-4-1-1 with Ben arfa sitting behind Remy and pulling strings for remy, gouf, debuchy and cabaye.
just my thoughts.

Again Guys, we all are simply forgetting the fact that he is a right footed player who played in Right midfield and then later on moved to a right back, but for Newcastle he plays for Left back position, that's why he has to cut in to give a cross and remember the Wigan game he scored he was in right midfield/Right Back position when he scored.
From my view our team set-up is the one limiting his talent. I think Pardew has to give him that chance sometime, when we have a comfortable lead he has to bring in Haidara and push Santon to Right midfield.
Just my thoughts.
