Bringing young kid in fm Northampton yet sending Armstrong out on loan.I know therewill be reasons and that is why I am not a manager/coach.

Would like to see a bit more movement over the weekend for another CB then use the start of the season to assess our requirements.

I know most will come on shouting striker but with Perez, Mitrovic and Cisse we have a reasonable front line all be it young and untested. With deJong and Gini in the centre with Cabella who could now be played as a genuine number 10 and with Colback and Sissoko I think that is a pretty good set up.

optemistic for this season. Top eight

i'd like to see a winger and Defender

2.) 31 Jul 2015 19:11:03
And that is for starters Des we also need adding and pruning the 25 man squad
Perhaps after tomorrow certainly Southampton and the next 2 matches McLaren will see how desperately they needed

I am lost that he percerviers with Obertan and Gouffran
and with Tubby Mike only seeing numbers I am afraid no defender will be bought until Williamson is either given away or sold.

3.) 01 Aug 2015 00:34:57
The squad is full of average/under performing plyers. I can't help but think that if we changed our position on transfers it would actually create a more valued squad.

I wonder what kind of impact a seasoned international defender like ron Vlaar or John Terry might have on the rest of the defence including williamson.

The same could be said for midfield where a player like lampard would have a massive impact.

Mike Ashley would flog more shirts and give the club a more global appeal from a brand perspective.

Whilst the squad need trimmed I think like all teams you need a balance, if you look at the impact KK had on the players around him at newcastle you do wonder wether we should be taking the plunge on an older player

4.) 01 Aug 2015 10:02:12
I expect h'll go on loan immediately as there were a number of championship clubs after him as well. if not immediately then in January.

14 Jul 2015 19:55:47
I know we all moan about lack of action but the majority of rumours we hear are simply journalists earning their crust. I would like to think all our transfer business is sorted by the start of August. I can see reason for feeling upbeat so don't listen to speculation wait, hope and see.

I hate reading so much negativity before the season has started. Some teams have bought entire teams but it doesn't guarantee success. Often it is the players overlooked who start well as they have the chance to prove themselves.

Try looking at positives. new players in, kept hold of others and hopefully a new beginning

Well said fair mag, I'm looking forward to the new season . If people stay fit, I think a few people are going to be surprised!

2.) 08 Aug 2015 20:49:46
New era. going to take time, still a lot of things need fixing which will hopefully be rectified soon. Can't wait for the game tomorrow.

3.) 08 Aug 2015 21:07:19
Southampton were written off by everyone as religation certainties this time last season and who really expected Chelsea to drop points today?
Get off to a good start build a top team spirit and get fans players and everyone pulling together the Europa league isn't completely out of the question just ask saint's fans.

4.) 09 Aug 2015 22:15:50
great result against west ham, Petr Cech is really making a difference eh? Maybe arsenal should bring in Pardew, the best coach in the premier league is available mate.

5.) 10 Aug 2015 21:12:59
Fair comment desree mate :-) in think we'll give Arsene until April then if we ain't got a point still and Cech has made two bad mistakes in every game up to then we might come knocking for Mcclaren, He will love the weather in London at that time of year :-)

02 Aug 2015 07:53:02
When will any of you give the Club a chance? A clean slate means for everyone. Every player has lost something under Pardew and Carver at el. SM is a COACH so maybe he feels he can improve these players mentioned OR he is playing them to safeguard the fitness of his first eleven and putting some players in the shop window.
Don't understand how you can say Anita is poor mind. Las season he was our best passer of a ball.

fair mag

1.) 02 Aug 2015 09:14:01
Fully agree fair mag

2.) 02 Aug 2015 11:02:13
8 yesrs of chance after chance AND they have a chance to improve and still awful defenders which will come to light next week
If McLaren has not watched this team beining mauled last season (every other manaher has) he s not the manager to be given a chance Geez oen your eurs with
Taylor and Willisomon on Saturday Southampton will have a field day
Anita is stop gap much better players than him

3.) 02 Aug 2015 12:39:34
art already judging mcclaren as the wrong man in the job jeez.

4.) 02 Aug 2015 16:38:48
Trad what is written JT you are that desperate for a mediocre team anything is OK for you

Any manager starting with Taylor and Williamson needs his head looking at and that applies to Obertan and Gouffran also

5.) 02 Aug 2015 17:01:17
McLaren was not a lot of peoples choice
He has a massive job & as has been written sticking with 3/4 who are frankly too poor will indo any good he is doing.

He is not a great manager but we all wish him well and if he hets 2/3 players being reported he has a chance but too many people are already blinkered

6.) 02 Aug 2015 17:51:47
Your just miserable art

7.) 02 Aug 2015 17:54:38
Art your acting like it's life or death it's pre season for god sake, things are going to take time, months possibly a good year. I'm prepared to wait that as these changes that McClaren is making will have hit the players hard after 5 years with the dinosaur Pardew. The high pressing is going to take time for the players to become good at, retaining the ball more is going to take time etc

8.) 02 Aug 2015 23:27:40
Seems like you know JT but you don't
At best a mid table team as long as Ashley
owns Newcastle

9.) 03 Aug 2015 09:50:50
Realistic not miserable JT a few new faces defenders especially will give everyone a lift
Why should Newcastle fans who support their club in droves
have to accept 2nd rate from Ashley

New season unfolds and reaction will be interesting after
the first 6 games.

10.) 03 Aug 2015 10:12:10
soz JT but I agree with Vida for a change. There is little to be positive about McLarens team so far. But I think with time he should get better performances.

11.) 03 Aug 2015 10:34:56
Hurts me to say it, but I agree with Vida. (And about the shirts). Ashley has no ambition above mid-table, but I'm reasonably confident for the coming season. Last two seasons we were doing ok up to Jan, but then deliberately and mistakenly went out of both cups. With nothing to play for, no motivation and then Carver in charge the wheels came off well and truly. Let's hope the momentum can be maintained for the full 38 games.
On another topic, I wouldn't bother with Austin. If an additional striker is required I' d push Sissokho up front where his strength height and pace could do some good, and free up a place in midfield.
And as Ashley doesn't get a halfpenny out of me, I'm £50 a match better off and much happier on the outside, Art, than you could ever be paying good dosh to watch dross on the inside.

12.) 03 Aug 2015 11:43:47
Stick with your principals Vic as that is all we fans have.
We all want success and frankly entertaining
not having to try and speculate why this Oaf
does and everything revolves about money for him.

One day I hope we can all be in agreement
about the club managet and team.

13.) 03 Aug 2015 17:05:03
Listen, by no means am I happy to settle for "little improvement" from last season, absolutely not, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm prepared to wait, for example I'm hoping Williamson will be gone by September, if he isn't, then I will be disappointed with McClaren. I hope we as a fan base can stick behind McClaren and be patient and we will soon finally have a team that can and WANTS to compete

14.) 04 Aug 2015 22:30:31
to be fair to mclaren williamson has been the only fit cb for him to play.
I am still disappointed by the lack of organisation at the back. The errors we have seen are defending 101 for the goals we have concede. Don't commit to a tackle upfield, don't play the ball across your own box, don't play offside traps when you're 1 vs 3.
Even I could coach that! We are talking errors that under 12s make.
If it is the fault of the players there must be grounds for gross misconduct.

29 Jul 2015 09:36:11
If Colo stays I think he could make a good partnership with Chancel. Colo experience with the younger players speed and aerial ability. Yes we need a replacement for Willo.maybe Sawson fm Hull.

If we don't get Austin, and by the way don't think we should pay £15 mill, I would like to see a £5 mill bid for Varney from Leicester or a Beherino.

If Aarons can stay fit and we play Cabella on the right I think a top eight finish is possible.

29 Jul 2015 08:30:59
Can't understand those peeps coming on here insisting we go out and pay th 15 mill for Austin. Yes he scored goals in his first Prem season but that could be BECAUSE he was in a poor team. Defences not concentrating fully or no one else able to score. How many chances did he miss. He hasn't started an England game yet and has had knee and shoulder problems. He is also in the last year of his contract. we should be offering 10 max with add ons depending on goal tally and games fit to play

fair mag

1.) 29 Jul 2015 14:16:47
Agree, we do not need him now we have Mitrovic, I'd rather see us spend £15m on Bearahino to add more pace to the attack.

27 Jul 2015 06:35:06
MClaren has said he doesn't know WHEN there will be another signing not IF there will be. It would make no sense to sign the playerswe have and not continue to sstrengthen.

Why can we not look forward instead of backwards. you'll want Keegan back next!

fair mag

1.) 28 Jul 2015 06:52:28
Because fair mag we have not learned amy lessons & Ashley is still hanging on to a fortune reluctant to spend

A gre more players could change all that ad could not havingbtobrely on the lokes of Obertan Williamson Gouffran etc

2.) 28 Jul 2015 19:53:59
Carver and Stone sacked; new manager and back room staff; new appointments to football board; three big-money buys so far (not predicted by you) and still you trot out the old cliches about lessons unlearned? If lessons HAD been learned, what do you think would be different? Jeez.

3.) 28 Jul 2015 22:20:35
Vida's new favourite past time - winding up Vic.

4.) 29 Jul 2015 02:25:23
Vic yiu awake and watching Glass half full again?

Seems to me changes were inevitable and so far only
mneybin the pot from last swason spent

Just keep your head down you never know 10th could beckon

5.) 29 Jul 2015 02:47:07
Oh and Vic welcome back I lmow how much you hate anyone spilling your glass of optimism

Let's hope this season it is built pn firmer ground
Good start with 3 good players let' s hope they bring in another 3 to give the team a fighting chance I hear they will
BUT with Ashley yiu never know
See you at the match tomorrow

6.) 29 Jul 2015 08:58:08
vida i'm confused by your
posts you can't seem to decide
whether your glass is half full or half empty wake up man

7.) 29 Jul 2015 10:31:04
JT: you're not the only one confused by vida's twisting and turning - I'm confused, poor old vida's confused himself. Don't know what he's been reading but he seems to think that I'm optimistic, glass half full, etc. Just to put the record straight, I'm not going back to SJP just yet, I'm waiting to see actual improvement on the pitch, lots of goals, plus more signs of ambition from above. Common sense, really. Now if we sign Otamendi, my glass would indeed be half - nay, three-quarters - full!

8.) 29 Jul 2015 13:41:26
Seems that some on here are very confused about supporting every one from the tea lady to Ashley,
3 players and suddenly we are up for it.Well we are not and anyone who happens to say that throws the you know who's into total confusion not knowing whether to stick or twist.

There are a few who tell it as it is and those that tell it as they think it is.

It's a banter page but some idiotic non committal posts regularly appear and if you are not going to matches until you see good football and commitment from the owner and glasses half full or empty YOU ARE ON THE OUTSIDE and say what you mean and don't toe the line because that is what is wrong with Newcastle fans.
If you like it say so if not say so.

9.) 29 Jul 2015 19:50:16
Art: think you're being a bit unfair to Vida suggesting he's idiotic is a bit strong. He always used to be the extreme pessimist, but now with three good signings he's changed his tune only very slightly, suggesting tenth place, etc. He'll be back to his old self soon, mark my words.

10.) 30 Jul 2015 14:02:15
Not refering to Vida he speaks his piece & don't like the c. p floating around, which is more than a lot on here
