Andy Carroll back on the radar. I'd be happy with that at least we would hopefully score from a corner for a change.

baldygeordie

1.) He's someone that we've missed in the derby. Defenders can't live with big strong strikers like carroll. And he'll give a bit of passion

2.) I hope so, I think we are on about getting him for 15 mil, but the only problem is his demand for wages, he was on 150,000 at Liverpool and similar at west ham and I know for definite that Newcastle would not pay that

{Ed008's Note - He was not on 150,000 a week at either club..

3.) Have him back tomorrow.

4.) Big Andy deal to be done while both teams are out in new Zealand.

5.) 20 Jul 2014 11:56:47
yep Ill go along with Andy coming back , he gives us something different and he's a Toonic

6.) 20 Jul 2014 12:01:25
yeah because 2 games a year count for so much. Short sighted or what! They'd probably be the only 2 games he'd be fit for any way.

A slow, non-scoring, perma crock, hoof ball magnet on huge wages. Yeah just what we need. We need fast mobile goal scorers, not a half season wonder we got v lucky on.

7.) If we did go for this then I'd want another striker brought in as cover. When fit, Carroll is a very effective player but that's the problem, he's rarely fit. 15 mill is a bit of a gamble and for a similar priceor just a bit more we could do better. Not sure what the situation is with Benteke's fitness but he may be a better bet. Or perhaps Rhodes or Ings. Not sure what's out there tbh but hopefully the club do and we get a couple more good players in.

8.) Think you're being hard on the lad. Yes he has suffered with a bad injury but seems to be finding his way back and as for being a hoof ball magnet he's very underrated on the deck and a lot better than most out there. IF we can get him for £15 mil that's a bargain after Fulham paid 11 for Mc Cormack.

9.) 20 Jul 2014 19:43:19
how can you say we would play hoof ball we've signed attack minded players who play wide as well as thru the middle andy doesn't just win balls in the air he can hold the ball up and bring others into play,we played with 3 up front last season with wide players putting in crosses, and i'd rather have big andy on the end of them than remy/cisse or luuk de yong .germany won world cup they didn't play hoofball, but had klose who is a big lad and not the quickest lead the line.

10.) 20 Jul 2014 20:23:55
Ings looks a really good player and is still very young. If we got him and say he had 2 good seasons in the premier league he would be £20mil+.

11.) Ings Whickham in diguise who would be a better buy at a lot less

played decent against man city, potential their besides the usual mentioned signings of centre back and striker needed, main concern is if these young ones loose a couple and confidence goes, pardew and co do not know how to stop the fall, e.g results after xmas

baldygeordie

1.) Results before Xmas are critical & we dee after Villa eithet confidance or panic

2.) Yes. I meant couldn't stop bad results after last xmas. we need results, points on the board in next few matches against reegation potential teams

Replacing what we sell isn't going to make us better, just not worse, desperate for strikers and centrebacks. think we should have a punt on Rhodes from blackburn

baldygeordie

1.) Unfortunately, I think Rhodes has recently signed a new deal with Blackburn.

2.) How are Dejong Cabella and Colback replacing what we have sold

3.) I can see Baldy's point although I am happy with the window so far. Cabella is a replacement for HBA when he leaves. De Jong is Cabaye replacement and Colback replaced Gosling. Perez is part of the development squad and Jannment has replaced Debuchy. So it is 1 in 1 out. Saying all that a couple of good strikers and a solid CB and it would have been a good window.

4.) 15 Jul 2014 22:02:06
De Jong isn't a replacement for Cabeye, different sort of player.
De Jong will score goals, Cabeye was more of a creator.
This is why we still need Grenier. He would just sit and pull the strings with his passing.
Would be happy with Grenier and one more striker. Anything more would be a bonus.

5.) De Jong is very much a creative player and is also more of a link man rather than an out and out striker. If in your opinion De Jong is not Cabaye replacement then Cabaye won't be replaced. Colback, Sissoko Anita even Abeid are able to play alongside Tiote.

6.) Agreed fnuklnuk de Jong is the man who acts as a "hook" and links midfield to attack. He had a good 60mins last night, he looked smart on the ball and scored a fantastic goal.

As for Grenier I don't think we need him as that doesn't seem to be the style pardew is going with. It's more of two aggressive defensive midfielders pressing, then 3 attacking midfielders in front.

Only players we will sign are championshiop players or world cup flops, any decent player will have inflated prices, so no hope there!

baldygeordie

1.) Escaping relegation last season and to be finishing mid-table or below is what fans can expect while Ashley owns this club

Any players coming into Newcastle United becoming for one reason to play in the premiership and show what you can do then move on,

Keep giving Ashley your money and he will spit in your face as he has been doing now last five years.

looks like the way forward is to buy cheap (if available) and sell make a profit, if that not possible, get a couple on loan who can't make the top teams first team, good way to stay top half of table. If we can't afford the best loan a couple, that seems to be the plan like everton

baldygeordie

1.) Baldy it has always been like that Nothing New here
We are at best mid table team with Ashley not wanting to ruffle anyone's feathers
Joker at NUFC to ensure NO spending
and he had done a great job for Ashley

8.5 mill! Yes have him. but it will cost 14 mill. For a player who is more interested in other clubs, let him go. Plus his wage demands seem to be a stumble block and probably puts off other teams too. Ashley certainly ain't going to fall for it.
